*1971, grew up in Namibia,
lives and works in Düsseldorf, Germany
Albers‘ works are a reflection of the environment around him. His personal perspective, the loss of power in the face of a violent world, life in the urban chaos of big international cities, architectural grids and surfaces and the longing for untouched landscapes accumulate for him as individual perceptions in his three-dimensional reliefs of high concentration.

twintwisteR
A large-scale outdoor sculpture consisting of two identical bronze elements stacked, twisted and
balanced on top of each other.
twintwisteR is Jan Albers’ first freestanding outdoor sculpture, opens a new chapter in his practice. Cast in
bronze and monumental in presence, it steps beyond the familiar confines of the white cube. In dialogue
with nature or city surroundings, the work enters a realm where different forces are at play—where time,
weather, and landscape or architecture shape the experience in very different and new ways than in
the museum or gallery space.

caRRieR
A jewellery sculpture in collaboration with Georg Hornemann goldsmith studio and VAN HORN.
This wearable sculpture by Jan Albers was created for the first time as part of the Art Collaborations.
‘caRRieR’ – the Jan Albers ring in 10 unique pieces is the artist’s first jewellery sculpture. Made of gold, the ring references Albers‘ characteristic spatial reliefs. Its geometric complexity and sculptural presence clearly locate it in the artist’s language.
The ring rests on an accompanying bronze sculpture – it’s home base. This two-part work is designed in such a way that the ring takes off like a shuttle, is set in motion by the wearer and returns to the sculpture at the end of the day. Both the bronze sculpture and the person wearing the ring become ‘caRRieR’.
Ring, sculpture and wearer form an inseparable unit of artwork, piece of jewellery and symbolic gesture.
The ring combines artistic vision with masterful craftsmanship and is a strong statement for collaborative creation at the highest level.
