In co-operation with the goldsmith Georg Hornemann and the VAN HORN gallery, a wearable work of art by Jan Albers was created for the first time as part of the Art Collaborations.
‘caRRieR’ – the Jan Albers ring in 10 unique pieces is the artist’s first jewellery sculpture. Made of gold, the ring references Albers‘ characteristic spatial reliefs. Its geometric complexity and sculptural presence clearly locate it in the artist’s language.
The ring rests on an accompanying bronze sculpture – it’s home base. This two-part work is designed in such a way that the ring takes off like a shuttle, is set in motion by the wearer and returns to the sculpture at the end of the day. Both the bronze sculpture and the person wearing the ring become ‘caRRieR’. Ring, sculpture and wearer form an inseparable unit of artwork, piece of jewellery and symbolic gesture.
The ring combines artistic vision with masterful craftsmanship and is a strong statement for collaborative creation at the highest level.
