In the fountain sculpture riseandfaLL, a jet of water—soft and ephemeral—meets hard bronze. The fleeting collides with the solid, motion encounters stillness. This dialogue between transience and weight is more than a visual gesture: it reflects a central motif in Albers’ work—the productive coexistence of seemingly irreconcilable elements.

While a tailored installation has been created for the conditions of the gallery, riseandfaLL is ultimately envisioned for the outdoors. Whether placed beside a pool, a pond, a basin, or integrated into a landscaped garden, the work reveals its full potential in dialogue with natural surroundings. Its presence transforms space, offering not only a sculpture but a living experience that unfolds continuously in the interplay between water, material, and environment.
